I've decided to update this after owning the chair a few months. The piston that holds the upper chair to the lower legs has become loose to front/back motions. It's fairly subtle, but this is now a rocking chair, which makes an ugly sound each time it rocks. I'll be replacing it, and I cannot recommend it to anyone with such poor reliability.Original review:Is it pretty? Not especially. This isn't the worst looking chair I've seen though, and it's comfortable for me. The mesh back seems to support my 185 lb frame well. The mesh gives a little but I wouldn't call it loose, and it's wider than the Herman Miller Aeron chairs that made this style popular. The extra width is nice as I sometimes catch a hard edge in an Aeron chair when moving around. The adjustments seem adequate all around, and everything (especially the levers) seems sturdy and robust. I haven't had any issues so far with the back sliding down, it seems to lock/hold into place confidently. I did think the back height adjustment felt a little cheap, as it's a metal beam sliding against the plastic frame. I applied a small amount of silicone lube to the sides of the metal beam, which completely fixed the feel and made it easier to adjust. I've outlined the areas I lubed in red in an included picture.Sorry not sorry for the dog hair in the picture :)I got a different part for connecting top and bottom of chair than was on the diagram. I called company and they quickly sent another. Unfortunately the piece, a heavy chunk of metal still did not match. Finally I got a call, and with both of us on speaker phone for about 20 minutes, they finally helped me put the chair together. It did not come with instructions, though they said it should have! The diagram sent with parts obviously also was wrong. But, with the time they spent and the speed with which they sent the replacement, the chair finally works. It does everything but sing. Many different controls including arms which move in and out as well as up and down.I would have liked more back support, but supplemented with a wire/fiber support for a few more dollars, this chair suits my purpose and helps my back.Compared to $300 in Staples, it's almost, but not quite as good. Definitely worth the $150 though and I would buy again.Shopping at an auto dealership provided me with the opportunity to sit in one of thesechairs. It was very comfortable, so I came home and read reviews to see if it would workas a computer chair for my husband. The reviews were all good, so I bought it.After unpacking it, making sure I had received all the parts, and reading over thepictorial assembly instructions, I set my stopwatch and began. FIFTEEN AND AHALF MINUTES LATER, I gave it a "test sit."I'm very pleased with the chair and my assembly skills at 67. It would have beena little quicker, but the assembled seat is pretty heavy, so it took me three passesto land the seat on the post).I will add to the review after I've given it to my husband for Christmas. I hope hewill be as pleased as I am.A very comfy chair.....nice that the back and seat angle are adjustable, as well as the arm rests. I have to use it at the highest height setting, but I think that is about as high as most people need. It does not rock, so if that is important, then this is not for you. This was a replacement for my home office chair that was falling apart, so this was a very good choice.Assembly was not easy, and the printed instructions had errors, so that it took me about 2 hours to assemble. If the instructions were clearer, I think 20 minutes would have done the job.The construction is solid, and of high quality, and I expect that this chair will last a long time.Great value. A heavy stable comfortable chair. Great customer service. Would buy again. This is a great chair for the price. This chair had features that I loved:Seat slides forward and backwards. The back of the chair Moves up and down for comfort. The chair will tilt back and can hold it's position. The arm rests are solid but still very easy on the arms.Heads up:My wife is now using this chair because the mesh would sink down to the plastic for me... after looking again it's rated for 250 lb. If you're a bigger guy/gal this chair probably isn't for you.Overall, I love the chair construction and the way it operates (would be a 5 out of 5 based on that alone). The fact that everything is adjustable is perfect and I like the breathable mesh in the back. And the way the seat is made is great...shaped to fit one's bottom with a nice curve in front. The problem is the smell.Even though the packaging was in perfect order and it looks wonderful, my seat cushion has a musty odor. It hit me in the face when I opened the box. Thinking it was just from being closed in I let the chair sit for a day, but it still stunk up the room. So I used an upholstery cleaner on it, followed by a freshener. It still smells moldy. Since I mold gives me headaches, I (sadly) have to return this chair. I noticed Alera has a similarly constructed chair I am going to try.We have 25 or so of these chairs in our offices, and they've served us well over the last 5 years. Occasionally one of them has a problem, but in general they get a lot of use, and they stand up to constant use.It came in a box, and I was a bit panicky about setting the thing up.No problem! It took me about 30 minutes, and I've been using the chair daily for over a month. All is good.MehIf you lean to heavily into the back it will pinch you between the mesh and the plastic. (I draped a towel over the back part behind the mesh that seemed to fix the problem)The cushioning of the seat is rather lacking.U get what you pay for. which in this case isn't very much.Comfortable and well made, a much better deal than most chairs at this price. It also goes a little higher than most chairs which is nice if you are tall. This chair is what I have been looking for. I l enjoy the 3 adjustment options and comfort. I work from home so tend so be in the chair for many hours. I am petite so feel the chair is a tad big but then I get to have my feet up 'Bought this a year ago and still good. Good quality, good configuration possibilities.
